SuomiCom is an Internet service provider operating wireless WiMAX and wire-line ADSL and SHDSL networks in Finland. We entered on the market when home ADSL penetration was just less than 10%. The great boom on this consumer market during years 2002 – 2005 helped us to expand our business very rapidly, and by the end of year 2006 ADSL penetration exceeded 60%.

SuomiCom holds a WiMAX 3.5 GHz license which area covers most of the top 15 cities in Finland. Originally licenses were awarded year 1999 by Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority, and they were renewed for us during year 2006. This decision allows us network expansion from existing 5 cities to the rest of the license area. SuomiCom’s license area is the largest single license area awarded in Finland measured by population living in the area. Total population in the area is 2.5 million and the number of businesses exceeds 140.000.
